The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) Bakery Manager / Lead Operator leads the team and oversees daily bakery operations — from guest experience and cake production to brand presentation, work environment, and financial performance. The role focuses on driving sales and profitability while maintaining the highest standards of product quality, customer service, and team engagement. Accountabilities / Duties:
Team Leadership:
- Prioritizes the guest experience, models exceptional engagement, and fosters a positive team culture.
- Recruits, trains, and develops team members while clearly communicating performance expectations.
- Engages regularly with staff to assess progress, provide feedback, and resolve challenges efficiently.
- Delivers ongoing coaching, conducts quarterly performance reviews, and addresses performance gaps promptly.
- Delegates responsibilities to the Assistant Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Identifies and mentors future leaders through cross-training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintains hands-on knowledge of all bakery functions and assists as needed to support operations.
Business Operations:
- Oversees bakery opening and closing procedures, including accurate cash handling and bank deposits.
- Manages special orders for guests, corporate clients, and large-scale events to ensure flawless execution.
- Develops weekly sales goals, production schedules, and staffing plans to align with business trends.
- Monitors inventory, places supply orders, and conducts monthly audits to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Ensures adherence to food safety, health standards, and NbC operational policies at all times.
- Manages controllable expenses (labor, supplies, maintenance, etc.) to maximize profitability.
- Performs administrative duties including payroll, reporting, and basic accounting tasks.
Local Marketing:
- Leads community outreach initiatives to strengthen brand visibility and engage with local partners.
- Coordinates bakery participation in events, sponsorships, and partnerships that align with NbC values.
- Supports local marketing campaigns to drive traffic and enhance community relationships.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education preferred.
- 1–3 years of leadership experience in retail, hospitality, or food service environments.
- Proven success in managing teams, achieving financial goals, and ensuring superior guest service.
- Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and cost control.
- Food safety certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with learning new systems.
Work Availability:
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands.
