Senior Structural Engineer

An immediate opening exists for a Senior Structural Engineer with heavy industrial experience in the Atlanta, GA metro area. This is a hands-on engineering role with the potential to transition into Manager of the Civil/Structural Engineering & Design Department. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in heavy industrial structural design, a proven track record of project leadership, and the desire to grow into a management role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design steel buildings, equipment support frames and platforms, hangers, guides, and concrete foundations/slabs for steam and power generation projects.
• Maintain and update the structural engineering design technical library to ensure all designs meet current codes and standards.
• Research new design methods, technologies, and standards to ensure competitiveness.
• Develop project design basis for structural aspects and assist with project estimating, man-hour budgeting, and preliminary drawing lists.
• Coordinate structural engineering efforts with other disciplines for industrial projects.
• Review contract documents and design basis to ensure compliance.
• Document design calculations and communications with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Produce clear, concise, and accurate design drawings and bid packages.
• Perform material take-offs and review vendor drawings for compliance.
• Review and update departmental CAD standards and documentation manuals.
• Travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Focus).
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industrial structural design (industrial experience is a mustcommercial/residential only candidates will not be considered).
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Experienced with structural analysis software such as STAADPro, Robot, or similar.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication skillsmust be comfortable interacting directly with clients and vendors (no heavy accents).

Preferred:

• Experience designing concrete and structural steel support systems for steam, power, chemical, or pharmaceutical facilities.
• Interest and ability to transition into a managerial role.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary: $100,000 $145,000 per year (depending on experience).
• Relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
• Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 remote.
• Work hours: Monday Thursday, 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.
